Are you building a house in the archipelago? Do you need to transport an excavator or wheel loader to the island? We carry out all types of cargo transport with M/S LOTE, M/S QUEEN, M/S OLLIVER, M/S GRIM and M/S SJÖFRAKT departing from Stavsnäs.

Ressel Rederi is happy to help you with all kinds of cargo transport in the archipelago. With the ice-going ferries M/S QUEEN, M/S OLLIVER and M/S GRIM, flexibility is great. Cranes, forklifts, good loading capacity and cold storage make it possible to transport everything from heavy vehicles and dangerous goods to food products in cold storage. M/S GRIM and M/S SJÖFRAKT can also carry up to 12 passengers.

Or do you need a fast transport as a craftsman with tools and all colleagues? Our ferry M/S SJÖFRAKT will transport you to shallow waters with a load capacity of 4 tons.

Freight is transported by five cargo ferries and a number of passenger ferries. The passenger ferries deliver goods all year round. The cargo ferries operate when the ice melts, from mid-March to December. During the summer peak season, we also use other shipping companies to transport goods in the central and southern archipelago. (PDF-files in Swedish only)

Dimensional restrictions:

Goods transport via Albyberg has dimensional restrictions in order to carry out transport. These are the maximum dimensions per package/unit:

L: 2,40m W: 2,40m H: 2,00m Max 15 cages or 10 pallets

In case your goods are larger than the above mentioned, your goods need to be delivered directly to the vessel for loading (see loading times on "Timetables for Goods Transport"). Alternatively to the Goods Terminal in Stavsnäs (see below information) in case the goods vessel your goods will be transported with departs from Stavsnäs.

– The measurements can be flexible to some extent. Goods larger than the above dimensions may be transported to and from Albyberg after agreement with the Freight Booking Department in good time before transport.

FAQs

How do I make a booking?

Booking of freight transport is done by phone or via the customer portal, so that no important details are missed.

Bookings can be made no later than 16:00 the working day before the desired delivery. When booking, you will receive an order number from us, this number should then be marked on the goods so that it can be easily matched with your booking on arrival. If the goods are to leave directly from the quay/dock, shipping documents must be printed and attached to the goods. These are available in the customer portal for printing.

What are the packaging requirements?

Pack the goods to withstand transport

ALL GOODS MUST BE WELL PACKED BEFORE SUBMISSION. HEAVIER GOODS MUST BE PACKED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THEY CAN BE DRIVEN BY FORKLIFT OR LIFTED BY CRANE.

ALSO BEAR IN MIND THAT THE GOODS ARE STORED OUTDOORS ON THE SHIP'S CARGO DECK AND MUST THEREFORE ALSO BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND MOISTURE FROM RAIN AND WAVES.

What applies to the packaging of windows?

If you are shipping windows, they must be packed very well to avoid damage during transport.

How to pack windows:

Cover the window with a wooden board, such as a plywood board
Attach crossed boards to the short sides to stabilise
Wrap the window(s) to protect against moisture

What applies to the transport of Dangerous Goods - ADR?

Waxholmsbolaget transports dangerous goods in accordance with the Swedish Transport Agency's regulations in TSFS 2019:39 with cargo-carrying passenger ships during the winter timetable when the cargo ships are not operating. If you wish to transport dangerous goods, it is important that you contact the freight booking department so that they can assess whether the goods can be transported together with passengers or must be transported individually.

Packaged dangerous goods can be transported in accordance with the ADR-S and supplementary regulations on the cargo ferries operating in the southern and central archipelago during the high season.

The ADR-S is a European regulation for the transport of dangerous goods by road, but in some cases it also applies to transport on ferries which are an "extension of the road".

Complaints and claims

If you claim compensation for damage or loss of your goods, you must notify Ressel Rederi within three days of the transport taking place or should have taken place.
